If you have soft thin leather that you don't know what to make of - this project is for you!
This is a rustic, ole style backpack that can be a sling depending how you attach your straps. There are 5 strap attachment points for you to play with. Also there is a modern touch to it - a zippered pocket on the back.
You can also give it your own touch making some original and creative button on the flap.

Size: 15" high, 10.5" wide

Materials:

I used 8-9 oz leather for the back panel and straps. The important part is that this leather has to look good at the flesh side after burnishing. Try burnishing the flesh side on a small piece and decide if you like it.
For the front sack you need something soft and thin - anything like sheep skin, lamb, buckskin, goat skin, all that kind of stuff, even suede. You can actually use canvas too, if you want (you would have to add hems and grommets tho).
For the flap - something relatively thick and firm, can be same 8-9 oz leather, I used firm 5 oz.
For the inner rear pocket - something thin and soft, could be same leather as you use for the front sack. I used some remnants of 3 oz soft cowhide.
For the flap closure strap keeper I used 3 oz vintage veg tan. Again, could be pretty much anything.

Hardware:

1 x 6” zipper
6 x button studs
Some large decorative element as the flap button (use your creativity)

Pattern is designed for hand stitching.
Comes with written instructions and assembly pictures.

The pattern has stitching holes marked for 5 SPI stitching irons (5 stitches per inch, or approximately 5.2 mm). 5 mm stitching irons made by metric system sometimes fit, sometimes they don’t (depending on manufacturer). If you have 5 mm irons and the spacing seems a tad too large for them you can print the pattern at 96.2% scale. I advise to print one page and try your irons to see how they fit before printing the entire pattern.

Formats: A4 and USLetter.

This is a beautiful bag. The pattern, at the sale price of CAD 11.16, is a fair value - this is why I am only giving it a 4, plus the instructions are
